A campaign promise by Emmanuel Macron, the Culture Pass has gradually become more widespread since its launch in 2019. Today, a collective share is allocated to schools from sixth grade to final year, and an individual share is distributed in the form of a credit of 50 euros to all 17-year-olds and 150 euros to all 18-year-olds, to which can be added 50 euros for young people with disabilities or low family quotient.

Intended to provide access to culture for as many people as possible, the system is often the subject of criticism, both from defenders of a conservative culture and from proponents of budgetary rigor.
